The World of Linguistics
15 Apr 2026Linguistics has forever been something difficult to understand, yet language is inevitable. It’s hard to gain knowledge in a field that is both so natural and unnatural. Defined as the scientific study of human language, linguistics is possibly the field of science with the most difficult to digest literature, as well as the field with the most difficult terms to define. Graphemics, morphology, phonology, phonetics, pragmatics, semantics, and syntax — most, if not all of these words should have some familiarity to them, but most people can’t give a sound definition of these subfields, nor explain the depths of them. That is exactly what this blog is about — defining these terms in a digestible way, in order to make these subjects more accessible to broad society. Welcome to The Verne-Acular.
